SOS Outreach

SOS at Durango Mountain ResortBuilding character in underserved youth to enhance decision-making for healthy and successful life experiences, SOS Outreach is a not-for-profit organization, with mentoring programs designed to build character and self-esteem in youth through snowsports and the SOS curriculum. In Durango some 40 SOS volunteers and mentors as well as Durango Mountain Resort instructors will serve more than 110 kids from the local middle and high schools.

Our programs offer snowboarding instruction and the structure of the SOS Curriculum, which include consistent adult mentors, community service opportunities, and life skill workshops. Through these opportunities, and the adult mentor relationships that are central to our programs, SOS accomplishes its mission to enhance their decision-making for healthy and successful life experiences in all participants.

Each SOS program integrates the five core values of our organization: Courage, Discipline, Integrity, Wisdom and Compassion. The core values are an integral part of the entire organization.

We are!

With such an incredible summer behind us, now we're all kicking into high gear to get the mountain ready for Mother Nature. We will be opening for the 2014/2015 winter season the day after Thanksgiving. Until then, you can still come up to the resort to enjoy the changing seasons, as we still have lodging available and the Village Market & Deli and Real Estate Showroom will also be open. See you soon & THINK (lots of) SNOW!
